Sonna ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Sonna (the "App"), available on iOS and Android platforms.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Audio Recordings: When you record audio using the App, the audio file is temporarily stored on your device.
  • Subscription Information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: We may receive anonymized device identifiers through RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) solely for the purpose of managing your subscription status.
  • Crash & Performance Data: Standard platform crash reporting may be collected by Apple or Google through their respective platforms.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal contact information.
  • We do not require you to create an account.
  • We do not collect location data.
  • We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies.
  • We do not collect or store your audio recordings on any server permanently.
  • We do not serve advertisements or share data with advertising networks.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

4.1 Google Gemini API

Audio files are temporarily uploaded to Google's Gemini API for transcription and AI summary generation. Files are deleted from Google's servers immediately after processing completes. Google's use of this data is governed by their Gemini API Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Google does not use data sent through the paid Gemini API to train their models.

4.2 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases across platforms. RevenueCat receives anonymized device identifiers and purchase receipts to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

4.3 Apple App Store & Google Play Store

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple and Google respectively. These platforms handle all payment information. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your payment data.

5. Data Storage & Security

All recordings, transcripts, summaries, and app settings are stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage. We do not operate any backend servers or cloud databases.

Audio files are temporarily transmitted to Google's Gemini API over encrypted HTTPS connections for processing. Once processing is complete, the uploaded file is automatically deleted from Google's servers.

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

  • Local data: Recordings, transcripts, and summaries remain on your device until you delete them. Deleted items are moved to trash and permanently removed after 30 days.
  • API data: Audio files uploaded for processing are deleted from Google's servers immediately after transcription completes.
  • Subscription data: Managed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat per their respective retention policies.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: All your data is stored locally on your device and is always accessible to you.
  • Deletion: You can delete any recording, transcript, or summary at any time from within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
  • Portability: You can export your transcripts and summaries as PDF or text files.
  • Opt-out: Since we do not collect personal data or use analytics/advertising, there is nothing to opt out of.

For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

We process minimal data and rely on your consent (by using the App) and legitimate interest (subscription management) as our legal bases. Since all personal data is stored on your device and we do not maintain user accounts or databases, GDPR data subject requests are fulfilled by the App's built-in delete and export features.

For California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA beyond what is described in this policy.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to address the situation.

9. Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions:
